2023 Spring Appeal

FAMD’S 2023 SPRING APPEAL

This Spring, Help Match Mazey Blu’s  $20,000 Donation for the Continued Care of her Fellow Canine and Feline Shelter Friends.

Happy spring to all FAMD supporters! My name is Mazey Blu, and I once called FAMD home.

March 1 marked the fifth anniversary of me being united with my loving mom and dad in my forever home. This year also marks the fifth anniversary of opening the MaryAnn Wright Animal Adoption and Education Center. To celebrate, I convinced my parents to give me $20,000 that I can donate to FAMD to help my feline and canine friends that are still there. I ask you to help me grow my $20,000 to $40,000. Can you help?

I was brought to FAMD as a puppy with my sister, Daisy, who was lucky enough to go home with our family friends in Florida. Before I found my forever family, I stayed with the nice lady from the shelter, Trish, and played mostly with my sister in play groups. But not every animal is as lucky as puppies like us that only stayed in the shelter for a few weeks.

For 22 years, FAMD has saved 100% of all adoptable animals, no matter how long it takes. Some have stayed for more than a year! Some come in with medical issues or are malnourished. The amazing FAMD staff and volunteers do a fantastic job taking care of each one – again for as long as it takes.

FAMD donations and programs generate 60% of the income, with animal care representing 80% of the expenses. The daily operations would not be possible without the full and part-time staff and more than 330 volunteers who donate more than 18,000 hours of their time who take care to ensure that 100% of the adoptable animals who pass through the FAMD doors find their forever homes.

To help you understand why I am passionate about helping my fellow canine and feline friends, here are some statistics — money donated to FAMD is spent in numerous ways that support the organization’s daily operations, like buying food and paying for the medical needs of animals. 80 cents of every dollar donated for operations is spent directly on the animals. The average cost to ensure each animal is safe, healthy, and ready for adoption is about $900. And $750 is spent every week to feed the dogs and cats – and this doesn’t include the kitty litter!

I hope you can help me grow my $20,000 to $40,000.

With lots of tail wags,
Mazey Blu
