My family and I are looking for a loving and experienced home for our 9-year-old Mini Australian Shepherd, Pablo. This is an incredibly difficult decision, but we want to ensure he finds a home that truly meets his needs.
About Pablo
Pablo is a smart, loyal, and affectionate dog who thrives on companionship. He is incredibly intelligent, highly trainable, and still full of energy—you’d never guess he’s 9 years old! He loves playing ball, running around outside, and being by his person’s side. He is a devoted companion who bonds deeply and craves one-on-one attention.
Why We Are Rehoming Pablo
With a toddler at home and another baby on the way, our family dynamic is changing, and we recognize that Pablo would be happiest in a home where he can receive more individualized attention. He experiences high anxiety, which has manifested in protective behaviors at times, particularly around food and other dogs. He does best in a calm, structured environment with an owner who understands high-energy working breeds.
Pablo is naturally protective and will bark at people he doesn’t know, but he just needs time to warm up. Once he trusts someone, he is incredibly loyal and affectionate, and non-reactive.
With our toddler, Pablo has never shown aggression, but he prefers to keep to himself. We’ve always been mindful of their interactions and given him his own space. Because of this, we know he would do best in a home without young children.
The Ideal Home for Pablo
We believe Pablo would thrive in a home that offers:
✅ A patient and experienced owner, ideally someone familiar with herding breeds or anxious dogs.
✅ A home without other pets, where he can be the center of attention.
✅ No young children
✅ A fenced yard or land where he can run and play safely.
More About Pablo
Health & Vet Care: Pablo was neutered at 6 months old. I have always been up-to-date on his vaccinations, and he is the picture of physical health. He has always been seen by vets regularly and is currently on an anti-anxiety medication.
Temperament: Affectionate and loyal to his person. He excels at structured training and picks up commands quickly.
History & Training: I took him to puppy classes when he was young. He was also in doggy daycare for his first three years. He also mostly recently received in-home professional training before our first child was born. He does best with consistent routines and positive reinforcement, and lots of attention.
Lifestyle Needs: Primarily a house dog but loves outdoor playtime. He is happiest when he has space to run and an engaged owner to interact with.
Our Hope for Pablo
We love Pablo dearly, and this decision is made purely out of wanting the best for him. He is an incredible dog who deserves a home where he can get the attention, structure, and activity level he needs. If you or someone you know is looking for a devoted, intelligent companion and can provide the right environment for Pablo, please reach out.
We are happy to answer any questions and will work to ensure Pablo is placed in the best possible home. Thank you for considering giving Pablo the life he deserves.
