COVID-19 UPDATE & INFO FOR PETS

March 13th, 2020

We know there are many uncertainties during this trying time, as information is constantly changing, and new precautions and regulations are being implemented. At this time, both shelters will remain open and operating for all adoption and animal services. As a precaution we have cancelled this weekend’s Dog Day Out and new volunteer orientations for the remainder of this month. We are keeping up-to-date on the situation and will take further precautions as necessary. We will keep you updated on any changes via social media, email and our website. Please be sure to take caution and follow the CDC’s recommendations to wash your hands often, and stay home if you are feeling ill or if you are immunocompromised. Of course, the safety of our volunteers, staff, animals, and customers is our top priority.

Being pet owners ourselves, we understand that not only are you worried about your families, you are worried about your four-legged family members as well. We wanted to share this information that has been put out by the CDC as interim guidance for those who have pets in their home. The intent of this guidance is to facilitate preparedness and establish practices that can help people and animals stay safe and healthy. At this time, there is no evidence that companion animals, including pets, can spread COVID-19.

We will keep you updated with any changes that may occur at FAMD due to COVID-19. Thank you for your continued support, and please take precautions to keep yourself and your families safe and healthy.

Donate today and an animal will thank you tomorrow.
