DEARBORN. September 6, 2019 – To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the opening of the MaryAnn Wright Animal Adoption and Education Center, Dearborn’s Mayor O’Reilly has declared September 18, 2019 Friends for Animals Day in the City of Dearborn.
This day will encourage all residents to act with kindness toward their own pets and to adoptable animals, and celebrate the many efforts both Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit (FAMD) and the community undertake to help homeless animals and encourage pet adoption.
“The residents of Dearborn are known for their community spirit and their compassion, and have proven over many years that they support the humane care of homeless animals,” the proclamation states. Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit’s adoption numbers, volunteer hours and support from the community at fundraising events has repeatedly proven this to be true.
“We are so proud of our beautiful Adoption and Education Center and level of care it provides the homeless animals in our community. We are truly grateful to everyone who championed our vision and supported the project. Our team is hard at work raising funds to complete Phase 2 of our facility, so all of the animals in our care can flourish in a safe and healthy environment,” says Elaine Greene, Executive Director.
Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit will be celebrating the one-year anniversary of the opening of the MaryAnn Wright Animal Adoption and Education Center on September 14, 2019 with an open house celebration from noon-4pm.
