Phyllis was a force of nature, an amazing and courageous woman who taught and inspired all of us to live and love.

Her optimism and positivity were undeniable. She faced all her challenges head on and never, ever allowed herself or anyone else to feel sorry for her. Phyllis was magnanimous, generous with what she had and with her love.

Animals were her passion. All animals. She always had kitties, and adopted those that were the neediest. She would always stop to rescue animals if she saw them stray or on the side of the road, no matter where she was. Never had a concern for her own safety.

Phyllis supported and volunteered for the Friends for over 25 years, serving as a board member and supporter.

But once she retired in 2020, Phyllis started her second career as a volunteer for the Friends. She did animal adoptions, worked fundraising events, and transported animals to the vet and worked in our offices. Phyllis revamped the volunteer program, streamlining processes to make it more successful than ever.

Phyllis embodied qualities many aspire to possess: intelligence, kindness, loyalty, and boundless generosity. She was beloved by many, and her actions mirrored her words. Phyllis was truly one-of-a-kind. Though deeply missed, her spirit and the inspiration she provided will endure in all who knew her.

Given her passion for animals and golf, this initiative is a wonderful way to honor her memory.
