FAMD Returns to Michigan’s Oldest Memorial Day Parade

For the first time in years, FAMD will be participating again in Michigan’s oldest Memorial Day Parade, which will return for its 97th year on Monday, May 29, 2023.

Hosted by the City of Dearborn and the Dearborn Allied War Veterans Council, the parade honors veterans and those who lost their lives while serving their country. As one of the largest Memorial Day parades in the United States, the event features over 80 regional officials, marching bands, and community groups and concludes with a Remembrance Ceremony in honor of the fallen. This year’s theme is Arab Americans who serve.

The parade will begin at approximately 9:30 a.m. with a military funeral procession. Grand Marshal and parade groups to follow. FAMD will be in attendance with adoptable dogs, volunteers and staff, walking in the parade with our official van and banner!

A Remembrance Ceremony will take place on the lawn of the Dearborn Historical Museum’s McFadden Ross House,915 S. Brady St, at noon. The public is welcome to park in any of the free parking lots and structures in downtown West Dearborn. Please be mindful of road closures due to construction and the parade route.

The parade will begin at Nowlin St. and end at the Historical Museum’s McFadden Ross House, 915 S Brady St.
