On March 4, our first Best Buddies Brunch at Park Place in Dearborn, was deemed a great success that should be held as a fundraiser again next year! The event was a well-received, affordable answer to those looking for an approachable option who do not attend our other annual events such as, the Fore the Animals golf outing, Mutt Strut and the Black Tie and Tails gala. In a post-event survey, 100% of participants voted that the event should be hosted again, perhaps at a larger venue so that even more friends can attend. One participant wrote, ” Great, casual event; love the atmosphere. Just the right combo of shopping, swag, animals and donation opportunities.”
The brunch raised over $19,000 for FAMD’s general operations fund. A 50/50 raffle winner was announced, new leadership was introduced, adoptable dogs collected cash donations in baskets attached to their harnesses, new merchandise proved to be a big hit, and tickets were sold for two different raffles. The band, West of Windsor, enjoyed their time so much that they decided to donate their time performing at this year’s 5th Anniversary on September 23.
“The event was the best in my memory. The atmosphere was so good—welcoming, high energy, and optimistic. The Park Place team did a really nice job and seemed to be happy we were there. Our staff and volunteers were so engaged and helpful. They wanted to be there and did a terrific job making things go smoothly,” said Board Chair Maryann Wright.
