Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit Names Dr. Cheryl Good as 2019 Big Heart Award Winner

September 11th, 2019

DEARBORN. September 9, 2019 – Dr. Cheryl Good, DVM has been named the winner of Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit’s 2019 Big Heart Award. This award is given to recognize the dedication and compassion of an individual who unselfishly gives their time and talent to saving and providing sanctuary to animals.

The Big Heart Award is given annually, with the recipient traditionally being honored at FAMD’s Black Tie & Tails gala in October.

To be considered for this award, nominees must meet several criteria. They must: • Exemplify the mission of Friends, which is to provide loving care and sanctuary to animals, encourage adoptions and reunions, and promote respect, responsibility and compassion for all animals. • Exemplify true support of the humane treatment of animals, through thought, word and deed, whatever the circumstance. • Consistently donate time, support, financial resources and/or talent to facilitate or further the cause of animal welfare.

When Friends was formed in 1993, Dr. Good was one of the original members. Since that time, she has been both on the board, and served as the organization’s medical director for many years, going above and beyond to help animals in need. “Dr. Good is one of the most compassionate and generous women I have had the pleasure of knowing. Her dedication to the animals and this organization is both inspiring and amazing,” said Elaine Greene, Friend’s Executive Director.

Dr. Good shared, “I have been involved with Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit for over 25 years. In that time I helped to change the culture and improve the conditions for the homeless pets of Dearborn. I wholeheartedly continue to support the FAMD vision and mission, because by adopting from them you will definitely get back more than what’s humanly possible!”

Past recipients of the Big Heart Award include Patricia Ludwig, Julie Walker, Pat D’Ambrosio, Councilman Robert and Mrs. Mary Ann Abraham, Dr. Linda Schrier, Kay and Doug Neff, Scott Shallop, Dr. Jeff Dizik, Norma Wallis, MaryAnn Wright, Phyllis Moore, and Jack and Edith Sullivan.

Dr. Good will receive her award at the 2019 Black Tie & Tails gala, held October 25, 2019 at the Dearborn Inn. Tickets are on sale now, and can be purchased at one.bidpal.net/btt19
