FAMD announces Dearborn residents Ray and Christine Stachurski as the first recipients of the Hall of Friends award at the Best Buddies Brunch on March 4 at Park Place Caterers. The recipients’ names will be displayed at the Maryann Wright Animal Adoption and Education Center. Families like Ray and Christine’s allow FAMD to care for all of the animals that come through their doors annually until they can find forever homes. This unique award has been designed to express the organization’s gratitude for this support.

“This is a newly-created award to recognize people who give of their time and resources to help FAMD succeed. To recognize these everyday heroes, we are launching ‘The Hall of Friends’ award to recognize people who continuously demonstrate their support of FAMD and our mission,” says Maryann Wright, FAMD board chair. “This inaugural award goes to a family that for every day of the year, is doing something to raise money, food donations, volunteer, and raise awareness of the organization,” continues Wright.

For the last three years, the Stachurski family has drawn thousands of people to their residence to see the decorations for their annual FAMD Halloween and Christmas fundraisers. They also contribute to the FAMD general fund by contributing earnings from garage sales and birthday fundraisers. On March 25, they are hosting “Wine for Friends” at Modern Craft Winery in Wyandotte. Through all of their work, the Stachurskis have raised over $15,000 for FAMD.
